WHO WE ARE
After a 15-year career in the dairy industry, Darwin & Darlis joined the staff of International Messengers (IM) in 1990 and Darwin became president of the mission when the founder, Bob Rasmusson, died in November 2003. He served in that capacity until early 2023 and saw the staff grow to over 300 people working in 23 different countries, with 60% of them being nationals. In mid-2023, they stepped into new roles within IM of developing a rest & debriefing place in Rapid City, South Dakota for global workers, both from IM and other mission agencies.

THE HISTORY OF
THE HILLS ABIDE & REST

For several decades, we (Dar & Dar) have been traveling an average of 35-42 weekends per year, visiting staff, joining them in ministry, and representing them at local churches. We love caring for global workers, teaching on “Perseverance in Ministry” at mission training centers, and recruiting and leading short-term ministry teams. We minister to churches through missionary conferences and pulpit fill, and enjoy marriage enrichment ministry.
We have taken approximately 130 trips across the water at this point, have slept in a lot of different beds each year, and learned much about the space required to traveling global workers who need rest and quiet. We look forward to speaking into the lives of cross-cultural workers and mission CEOs, as we know much of the world and struggles they come from.
When we were generously offered a low price to buy this home in Rapid City for the purpose of establishing The Hills Abide & Rest, we knew God wanted us to share what He has taught us through the years. We count it a privilege!
